Meeting House Tavern Reopening Update
It's been a long 15 months, but we've never stopped working on ways to improve 2Bears Tavern Group’s bars and make them even better than before, including added health and safety features. As we’ve said before, we felt it was important to remain closed until it was safe for our patrons and staff; financially viable for the businesses, our bartenders and staff; and—last but not least—fun. While we've waited longer than some, we are now seeing vaccine availability exceeding demand and anyone who wants a vaccine can be vaccinated. With COVID-19 positivity rates slowly coming down in Chicago and the City of Chicago announcing a goal to be fully reopened by July 4th, we feel the timing is finally right for 2Bears Tavern Group to
begin reopening.
We are excited to announce that Meeting House Tavern will reopen on Thursday, July 1st!
After 15 months of shutdown, the reopening process is not easy or cheap. COVID-19 is still circulating in the community, representing a continued risk, so we're planning a staggered reopening—every 4 to 5 weeks—for the rest of our bars. Stayed tuned for details, to come.
Our hope is that in the coming weeks, more folks will be vaccinated and the COVID-19 positivity rate will continue to decline in Chicago so that we meet the metrics to be “fully reopen by July 4th,” as Mayor Lightfoot has targeted. We also hope that Mayor Lightfoot means “fully reopen,” which should mean what we have been promised by the State and City since last spring—no more limits on how and when businesses can operate such as required seating, social distancing, capacity limits and curfews on alcohol sales. This is what other cities and states are already doing as part of their full-reopening and our hope is that Chicago will be no different.
We cannot wait to see you, celebrate with you and be there for weeknight hangouts, Friday Happy Hours, Saturday nights out and Sunday Fundays. We'll see you very soon.
Cheers! 🍻
